It is with utmost regret that I am informing you that due the situation surrounding COVID-19, we will be unable to move on with our original plans to hold in-person elections to elect the executives for this endeared student union of ours this year. So we have decided to hold an online election much like last year. Do you want to be part of this mean, lean, science-loving, student- serving, meme-making machine? RUN IN THE MGYSU ELECTION!!! We have lots of positions available, something to suit everyone’s fancy: Co-President (2 positions) Academic Chair (2 positions) Social Affairs Chair Treasurer 4th Year Rep (2 positions) 3rd Year Rep (2 positions) 2nd Year Rep (2 positions) HOW TO RUN FOR ELECTIONS: Submit a short paragraph introducing yourself and your goals by 11:59 PM on Monday March 30th to utoronto.mgysu@gmail.com. Don't forget to specify which position you're running for! You are eligible to run for ANY position if you are a full-time, undergraduate A&S student enrolled in the Molecular Genetics and Microbiology major or specialist or have taken any MGY course that is part of the aforementioned programs over the past academic year and are not graduating this year. Additionally, if you are running for any of the year-rep positions, you have to make sure that you'll also be in that year during the 2020-2021 academic year, with the exception of future 5th-year students who may still run for the 4th-year rep position. Stage 1 (March 18th – March 30th) A 2-week period where students can submit their statement of intent (during this time campaigning is prohibited) Stage 2 (March 31st – April 3rd): A period where campaigning and voting are open.
